‘Game Change’ and the realities of political decisions

centeriframe width=”550″ height=”309″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/IPhh7mch5zo?rel=0″ frameborder=”0″ defang_allowfullscreen=”"/iframe/center pThe HBO movie emGame Change/em, from the book of the same name, debuts Saturday night to a barrage of publicity. While both critics and criticism have focused on the two chapters of the book that deal with Sarah Palin, it’s nearly impossible to avoid the implications of the most important—and disqualifying—decision John McCain made in 2008.

PA-Pres: President Obama vulnerable, Newt Gingrich ascendant on GOP side

div id=”uimg_right”img src=”http://www.dailykos.com/i/user/59419/Penn_Flag_275.png” / div id=”uimg_caption”Pennsylvania is quickly becoming a must-watch state/div /div pLooking ahead to the 2012 elections, one of the burning questions has been what will become of the key large states of the industrial Midwest. Ohio and Pennsylvania were central not only to the Obama election in 2008, but the Democratic surge to control of Congress in 2006 and 2008.

Sarah Palin Is Running Out Of Time To Get Into The 2012 Race

pSarah Palin is not running for president, and as such, I’ve been trying to give more space to those who have taken on the burdensome task of mounting a presidential campaign. But it hasn’t escaped my attention that from time to time, she pops up, suggests that there’s still time to get into the race, and then vanishes back behind her social media wall, leaving people to speculate on what she might do.

KY-Pres: Obama closer to GOP field than in 2008, but …

Kentucky: Not likely to be a coin flip in 2012 Before getting to the raw numbers out of the Bluegrass State, a caveat in the “cool your jets” vein. This PPP poll is not based on an anticipated 2012 electorate, but rather based on a sample of voters likely to turn out in two months for the gubernatorial election. As election junkies know, the GOP nominee in that race (David Williams) is an underfunded train wreck of a candidate. As a result, he is getting blown out by Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear . Republicans are, rightfully, a bit pessimistic about their chances in November.

IA-Pres: Rick Perry leads GOP field

Rick Perry can do so much more than eat corn dogs (Leschnyhan/Dreamstime.com)   Public Policy Polling (8/19-21, Republican primary voters, no trendlines): Rick Perry : 22 Mitt Romney : 19 Michele Bachmann : 18 Ron Paul : 16 Herman Cain : 7 Newt Gingrich : 5 Rick Santorum : 5 Someone else/not sure : 5 Jon Huntsman : 3 (MoE: ±5.5%) This isn’t PPP’s first survey of Iowa Republicans, but it’s their first to include Rick Perry, and he debuts atop the field, bumping Mitt Romney from the top spot.

Biden: Republicans ‘acted like terrorists’ in debt ceiling negotiations

Shocking ! Vice President Joe Biden joined House Democrats in lashing tea party Republicans Monday, accusing them of having “acted like terrorists” in the fight over raising the nation’s debt limit, according to several sources in the room. Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour, closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting. “We have negotiated with terrorists,” an angry Doyle said, according to sources in the room.
