Rick Perry passes Romney and Bachmann on Intrade market
Posted August 16th, 2011 by impalin
Intrade as of early am Aug 16 It’s way too early to know what this means, as Rick Perry’s buzz is going to precede his baggage and any unforced errors. But three days after a “win” in the Iowa straw poll and corn dog eat-off photo contest , Michele Bachmann comes in on Intrade in Huntsman-Palin territory (6.7) while Perry (37.7) laps both Bachmann and Romney (31.6%) to take the lead. The Intrade numbers are more a statement on Romney, the shaky frontrunner (ex-frontrunner?) and Bachmann’s fading star than on Perry as of yet.
Does Romney really think his retreats on carbon control will buy him climate-change denier votes?
Posted July 22nd, 2011 by impalin
Every serious candidate for public office who has already held public office has something in her or his record to keep out of the public eye. That is usually some big screw-up, an on-the-record flame-out or a policy that had an unfortunate outcome. In Mitt Romney’s case, however, what he’d like everyone to forget is something he did right. As Brad Johnson writes , these days Romney is saying: … [W]e have made a mistake is what I believe, in saying that the EPA should regulate carbon emissions.
NH-Pres: Obama trails Romney by two points in PPP poll

PPP: The Granite State is a legitimate toss-up in 2012 Public Policy Polling (6/30-7/5, New Hampshire Voters, April results in parentheses) Mitt Romney (R) 46 (46) Barack Obama (D) 44 (47) Barack Obama (D) 48 (–) Tim Pawlenty (R) 41 (–) Barack Obama (D) 49 (–) Michele Bachmann (R) 42 (–) Barack Obama (D) 49 (–) Herman Cain (R) 39 (–) Barack Obama (D) 53 (56) Sarah Palin (R) 38 (34) In 2008, New Hampshire’s four electoral votes were a comparably easy get for Barack Obama, as the Granite State went for the Democrat by nearly a 10-point margin.
Bristol Palin: Michele Bachmann’s just copying my mom
Posted June 29th, 2011 by impalin
This just might be the dumbest, pettiest attack from a Palin yet—which is really saying something. “I think [Michele Bachmann] dresses a lot like my mom,” Bristol tells me. “But a lot, a lot of women have done that the last few years. I do think it’s odd, you know, seeing people with red blazers with their hair up with glasses.” Bristol added a giggle before continuing her thought about Bachmann, a Congresswoman from Minnessota.
Why Michele Bachmann will be the GOP nominee
Posted June 27th, 2011 by impalin
Michele Bachmann says something crazy. (Larry Downing / Reuters) Michele Bachmann will be the GOP nominee. Yeah, yeah—this could be wishful thinking. Bachmann would gift Obama a second term and would lead to another Democratic wave election in the House. And yeah, this assumes that Mike Huckabee or Sarah Palin don’t get into the race. But this is the age of Christine O’Donnell and Ken Buck. Republican primary voters don’t give a damn about electability, but about casting a vote for the purest candidate.
